EWING, N.J. (1/20/20) – Jailen Jamison posted a near double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds as the Kean University men's basketball team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest to the College of New Jersey, 89-68 on Monday afternoon.
Ryan Jensen and
Travis Jocelyn both tallied 23 points for the Lions who improve to 9-7 overall and 6-3 in the NJAC.
Jared Latane finished with 16 points for the Cougars who fall to 4-12 overall and 1-8 in the NJAC.
After trailing by just two in the opening minutes, TCNJ used a 12-7 run to take their largest lead at 23-11 with 13:17 remaining. Kean responded with a 19-11 run to cut the Lions advantage to 31-30 with 5:44 to play before halftime.
Kendall Blount sparked the Cougars, scoring seven of his 11 first half points during a run that saw TCNJ shoot 3-for-13.
The Lions closed the half with a 13-6 run to hold a 44-35 lead at the break. Jensen and Jocelyn combined for 23 of TCNJ's 44 first half points.
The late first half run carried over to the second half as the Lions stretched their lead to double digits just four minutes in. After that the closest the Cougars would get was 12-point as TCNJ's hot shooting from downtown eventually expanded their lead to over 20 with less than eight minutes to play.
Jamison scored 13 of his 17 points in the second stanza, while pulling down five boards in the process.
Blount finished with 13 points and five rebounds, while
Mario Gunn totaled nine points and five rebounds.
Nate Lyles added eight points, three rebounds and three assists.
