NEW PALTZ, N.Y. (1/31/20) – Jonathan Meyer totaled eight kills and three digs as the Kean University men's volleyball team was swept in straight sets by top ranked SUNY New Paltz, 3-0 on Friday evening.
Aaron Carrk finished with 15 kills and a .700 hitting percentage for the No. 1 Hawks who remain unbeaten at 6-0 overall.
Zach Noll totaled 16 assists for the Cougars who fall to 1-5 overall.
New Paltz hit .400 for the match, while Kean posted a .139 hitting percentage. The Hawks hit north of .330 across all three sets, including a .464 percentage in the final set.
The Cougars best play came in the final set with a .240 hitting percentage in a two-point loss.
Kean opened with a 6-4 lead on a
Jared Ray kill, before New Paltz countered with a 7-2 run to take an 11-8 advantage. The Cougars climbed back with a
Zach Gerken kill and back-to-back
Riley Dolan attack errors to even the set at 13-13. After trading points, Kean pulled even with another Gerken kill and a solo block by
Seth Russell. New Paltz closed out the set on a 3-1 run, including three kills by Carrk.
Ray totaled six kills and three digs, while
David Jones posted five kills and two digs. Gerken added another three, while handing out eight assists.
Andrew Lukasiuk collected six digs in the loss.
