Glassboro, N.J. (2/19/20) – Senior Payce Lange recorded a game-high 19 points but it wasn't enough to catch top seeded Rowan University as the Kean women's basketball team fell by the final of 73-52 on Wednesday night in the regular season finale.
The Cougars finish the regular season with a 17-8 overall mark and 13-5 record in the NJAC. Kean earns the third seed in the upcoming conference tournament and will host #6 New Jersey City University on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. Rowan ends the regular season with a 22-3 mark and 16-2 record in conference play and the top seed and first round bye. #2 Montclair State, #4 The College of New Jersey and #5 William Paterson round out the tournament field.
In tonight's action the Cougars and Profs entered an early see-saw battle, knotting the score at 9-9 with 4:36 to go. Rowan then surged through the rest of the first quarter, holding Kean scoreless while going on a 13-0 run. The Cougars responded and cut the deficit to four on two occasions in the second stanza (27-23 & 31-27) but were unable to regain the lead the rest of the way.
Shannon McCoy tallied 15 points while Cindy Foresta added 15 rebounds, seven assists and five points.
