Union, N.J. (2/22/20) – Ian McCole came up on the winning end of a classic pitchers' duel as Misericordia University edged the Kean University baseball team by the final of 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

McCole (1-0) tossed a complete game shutout allowing just three hits along the way with seven strikeouts.  Collin Kiernan (0-1) was the hard luck loser for Kean.  He allowed just one run and four hits in eight and two thirds innings.

Misericordia scratched across the game's only run in the top of the fifth as Sean Lyons led off the inning with a single.  A successful sacrifice moved him into scoring position and Billy Kerwien then singled to center to drive in the game's only run.

Kean's Chris Ciaccio was the only player on either side to record multiple hits on the day as he was 2-for-4.

Kean will be right back in action on Sunday when they host FDU-Florham at 1 p.m.
