Union, N.J. (2/22/20) – Senior Danni LeSaint netted a game-high five goals as the Kean University women's lacrosse team opened the 2020 season with a 16-6 win over the College of Mt. St. Vincent.
Junior Jamie Lewit posted four goals and two assists for Kean (1-0).
With a 2-1 lead, the Cougars rolled off eight straight goals to widen the advantage. The Dolphins (0-1) stopped the run with just 28 seconds to go in the half.
CMSV got within seven on two separate occasions in the second half, but were not able to overcome the early deficit.
Katie Pileggi registered three goals and an assist with six draw controls and four caused turnovers while Sarah Wagner notched three goals.
Colleen MacNeil had five of the Dolphin's six goals on the day. She added seven draw controls.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday when they travel to the University of Scranton.
