Big First Half Propels Ramapo Past Cougars

MAHWAH, N.J. (2/5/20) – Three players scored in double figures as the Kean University men's basketball team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest to Ramapo College, 79-43 on Wednesday evening.

Marquise Kindel totaled 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Roadrunners who improve to 13-8 overall and 9-5 in the NJAC. Jared Latane tallied a team-high 13 points for the Cougars who fall to 5-16 overall and 2-12 in the NJAC.

Ramapo opened the contest on a 36-2 run, including 33 unanswered points while posting a 63.6% field goal percentage. After the opening field goal, Kean went on a 12:36 scoring drought before Jailen Jamison knocked down a triple with 4:01 remaining.  Jamison scored six points in the final four minutes, but trailed 49-12 at the half.

Despite the large deficit entering the second half, the Cougars outscored the Roadrunners 31-30, while shooting 50.0% from the field and behind the arc. Kean knocked down seven triples in the second stanza that saw Ramapo maintain the 30 plus lead.

Latane and Tyrese Johnson combined for 21 of the 31 second half points.

Head Coach Adam Hutchinson and the Cougars will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 8th, hosting the Pioneers of William Paterson University at 5:00 p.m.
