ASTON, Pa. (2/7/20) – Jared Ray posted double digit kills for the fifth time this season as the Kean University men's volleyball team opened the Continental Volleyball Conference slate with a straight sets sweep of Neumann University, 3-0 on Friday evening.
Ray finished with 12 kills and a .364 hitting percentage for the Cougars who improve to 2-6 overall and 1-0 in the CVC.
Conner Kolek totaled four kills and six digs for the Knights who fall to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in the CVC.
After being tied 6-6 to start the opening set, Kean used a 7-2 run to take a 12-7 advantage. The Cougars kicked off the run with a
Jonathan Meyer kill, followed by three straight errors, before ending with back-to-back kills from Ray. Kean coasted for the rest of the set with a .357 hitting percentage, while holding the Knights to a -.077 percentage.
The second set saw Ray and
Seth Russell combine for nine kills with a .308 percentage in the 25-12 victory. Kean opened with a 14-5 run, including an 8-2 run to start as the Cougars coasted. The final set was identical as the previous one as Kean opened with a 7-2 run and posted a match-high .364 hitting percentage.
Russell totaled seven kills and three digs, while
Maxim Kostin tallied six kills and three digs. Meyer posted five kills, while
Zach Gerken and
Stephen Reynolds both finished with two kills apiece. Gerken added 17 assists, while
Zach Noll handed out 10 assists. Ray collected seven digs, while
Andrew Lukasisuk added six.

th, hosting Lehman College and Messiah College for a tri-match beginning at 10:00 a.m.
