Union, N.J. (10/13/21) – The Kean University women's soccer team scored three second half goals to propel them past New Jersey City University, 3-1 on Wednesday evening in NJAC action.
With the win, head coach Brian Doherty collected his 200th career win, all of which at Kean.
The Cougars (5-5-2, 3-2-1 NJAC) had a balanced scoring attack as six different players had a hand in tonight's scoring.
Vanessa Leon gathered the ball at midfield and send the ball down the right sideline to a streaking Celine Brady who then took the ball down the field and fired a shot that hit the left post and bounced in for the game's first goal.
Kean struck seven minutes later as Jenna Sheedy took a ball down the right sideline and centered it for Lizzy Pacillo who fired it past the keeper for a 2-0 advantage.
Rebecca Zahner closed out the scoring five minutes after that as she took a corner volley from Emily Bretschneider and knocked it in for a 3-0 lead.
NJCU (2-7-3, 0-5-1 NJAC) erased the shutout in the 85th minute with a penalty kick goal from Kim Brites.
Kean returns to action on Saturday when they face Rowan University in Glassboro at 6 p.m.
