CORTLAND, N.Y. (11/13/21) – Nikolaos Theoudoulidis notched a goal in each half as the Kean University Men's Soccer team advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round with a 3-1 victory over Gettysburg College at SUNY Cortland on Saturday evening.
Sadeiki Roberts scored for the Cougars who improve to 13-4-3 overall and advance to tomorrow's second round matchup against #5 SUNY Cortland.
Aidan Muller scored for the Bullets who finish their season at 13-6-2 overall.
After Gettysburg scored first in the 20
th minute, the Cougars notched an equalizer less than two minutes later. Theoudoulidis scored on a loose ball that deflected off the goalkeeper from about 25 yards' out.
Kean took their first lead of the contest when Roberts scored on a through ball from
Felix Pereyra in the 28
th minute.
The Cougars added an insurance goal in the second half, when Theoudoulidis scored in the 88
th minute. The rookie collected a long through ball, made a move to beat his defender and fired a shot that deflected off the keeper.
Theoudoulidis recorded five shots, while
Matt O'Shea tallied four and Roberts posted three.
Dominic Ridge made four saves in 90 minutes of work.
The last time the Cougars won an NCAA Tournament game was a 5-1 victory over Trinity (CT) College on Nov. 15
th, 1997.
