ROSEMONT, Pa. (11/17/21) – Patrick Strzala finished with 24 points and knocked down five triples as the Kean University men's basketball team remained unbeaten with a 65-60 victory over Rosemont College on Wednesday evening.
Letrell West totaled 16 points and went a perfect 8-for-8 from the line for the Cougars who improve to 3-0 overall.
Marlon Sharpton finished with 14 points and 10 assists for the Ravens who remain winless at 0-4 overall.
Rosemont jumped out to a seven-point lead with their hot shooting from downtown. The Ravens held a 19-12 lead with 10:10 remaining in the first half. The Cougars closed the half with a 16-10 run to take a 28-27 lead on a Strzala triple just before halftime. Rosemont would take a one-point advantage into the locker room after making a layup with two ticks remaining on the clock.
The second half saw both sides hold and surrender at least a six-point lead. The Cougars took their largest lead of the half at 52-46, before the Ravens responded with a mini 5-1 run to regain the lead at 52-51 with just over five minutes to play. After trading buckets,
Kendall Blount knocked down a key three-pointer with 1:49 remaining as Kean took the lead for good at 59-58.
West was the catalyst down the stretch with six points and two steals as the Cougars ended the game on a 9-2 run. West went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe during the run.
Jeffrey Nolen Jr. tallied 11 points and eight rebounds, while Blount recorded nine boards and six points.
