Brooklyn, N.Y. (11/19/21) – The Kean University women's basketball team edged host Brooklyn College by the final of 64-58 on Friday night in non-conference action.
It was a nip and tuck battle for most of the contest. Kean held the lead for a majority of the contest, but was unable to push that advantage out beyond single digits.
In the pivotal fourth quarter the Bulldogs (3-1) were able to tie the score once regain the lead momentarily before the Cougars (2-4) were able to power through walk away with the win. Trailing 52-51 with six minutes to go, Kean's Shannon McCoy nailed a three-pointer to give the Cougars a lead they would not relinquish. Two more treys the first from Sarah Olivero and another from McCoy put the game out of reach with just under two minutes to go.
McCoy finished with a team-high 20 points along with seven steals and four rebounds. Brittany Graff added 14 points and seven assists while Olivero tallied 11 points and four rebounds.
Kean opens up NJAC play on Tuesday when they host Montclair State University at 6 p.m.
