IMMACULATA, Pa. (12/14/21) – Letrell West totaled 27 points as the Kean University men's basketball team came away with a 79-66 non-conference victory over Immaculata University on Tuesday evening.
Patrick Strzala finished with 16 points and five rebounds for the Cougars who improve to 8-3 overall. Gregory Vlassopoulos recorded 17 points and seven rebounds for the Mighty Macs who fall to 3-6 overall.
The Cougars torched the nets in the opening half, shooting 51.7% from the floor and 50.0% from downtown as Kean opened the game on a 32-12 run. West scored 11 points and Strzala added six during the run. Immaculata closed the half on a 16-11 run, including going 10-for-13 from the charity stripe, which cut Kean's advantage down to 43-30 at halftime.
Immaculata opened the second half on a 15-7 run, which cut the Cougars lead to 50-44 with 12:52 remaining. Kean answered with a mini 6-2 run to push the lead back to double digits at 56-44 with 11 minutes to play. That would be the closest the Macs got as Kean eventually stretched the lead to 73-57 with 4:30 remaining.
JD Daniels totaled 11 points, while
Nate Lyles tallied 10 points and five rebounds.
