UNION, N.J. (2/20/21) – JD Daniels finished with 37 points, three rebounds and three assists as the Kean University men's basketball team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest to the College of New Jersey, 99-77 on Saturday afternoon.
Travis Jocelyn finished with 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Lions who remain unbeaten at 6-0 overall and 6-0 in the NJAC. Daniels knocked down four triples and went a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line for the Cougars who fall to 1-5 overall and 1-5 in the NJAC.
Daniels kept Kean within striking distance during the opening 13 minutes as the sophomore tallied 13 of his 19 first half points and the Cougars took their largest lead of the game at 27-23 with 6:59 remaining. TCNJ closed out the half on a 23-12 run to propel the Lions to a 46-36 halftime advantage.
TCNJ opened the second half with an 18-6 run to expand their halftime lead to 62-42 with 15:52 remaining. Despite the game being out of reach, Daniels added another 14 points along with eight points from
Dorien DePina and six from
Mike DelSantro.
Nate Lyles finished with eight points, three rebounds and two blocks, while
Justin Singh-Smith grabbed eight boards.
Fourteen different players saw action today, including first-time action for
Evan Francisco and
Jalen Bergen.

David Turco and the Cougars will return to action in Union, N.J. on Friday, Feb. 26
th, hosting the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers-Camden at 5:00 p.m.
