IMMACULATA, Pa. (3/11/21) – Five Cougars finished with double-digit kills as the Kean University men's volleyball team swept a doubleheader with Immaculata University to open Continental Volleyball Conference play on Thursday evening.

Stephen Reynolds finished with a match-high eight kills as the Cougars (2-2, 1-0 CVC) recorded their first CVC victory with a dominating 3-0 straight sets sweep of the Mighty Macs (0-2, 0-1 CVC).
Kean tallied 40 kills on 85 swings and posted a .341 hitting percentage.
David Jones posted a match-high .875 hitting percentage with seven kills on eight swings.
Alex Overhoff filled up the stat sheet with seven kills, six digs and two aces.
The Cougars held Immaculata to a negative hitting percentage (-.082) as the Mighty Macs tallied 16 errors. In addition, Kean hit above .400 in the set one and set three victories.
Seth Russell totaled six kills and three digs, while
Zach Gerken and
Derek Au combined for 30 assists.

Jonathon Bernstein finished with 16 kills and a .500 hitting percentage as the Cougars (3-2, 2-0 CVC) completed the doubleheader sweep of the Mighty Macs (0-3, 0-2 CVC).
After dropping the first set ever in the series history, the Cougars blitzed Immaculata in set two with a .737 hitting percentage and 15 kills on 19 swings for the 25-11 victory.
Jonathan Meyer and Bernstein combined for 10 kills in the set two victory.
In the third set, Kean trailed by one at 23-22 before scoring three straight points to close it out. After a
Zach Noll and
Maxwell Thompson block tied everything up at 23-23, Bernstein assisted on kills by Meyer and Noll to end the set.
Kean closed the match with a .550 hitting percentage in set four as Jones, Thompson and Russell each tallied three kills apiece to run away with another 25-11 victory.
Meyer totaled a career-high 11 kills and a .833 hitting percentage, while Thompson posted a .583 hitting percentage. Noll and
Luke Frankenfield each handed out 19 assists, while Noll,
Andrew Marx and Bernstein all collected six digs.
