UNION, N.J. (3/16/21) – Kayla Thornton totaled nine kills and posted a .727 hitting percentage as the Kean University women's volleyball team clinched a third seed in the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs with a 3-0 sweep of Rutgers-Camden on Senior Night.
Ashley Smith recorded seven kills for the Cougars who finish the regular season at 3-2 overall and 3-2 in the NJAC.
Brinn Hassan finished with 29 assists, including tallying her 1,000
th career assist for the Scarlet Raptors who finish the regular season at 2-3 overall and 2-3 in the NJAC.

Kailey Fawns and
Morgan Hall each recorded three kills apiece in the 25-21 set one victory. After a tight opening eight points, Kean attempted to pull away with a 11-2 run that put the Cougars in front at 19-10. Camden responded with an 11-4 run, but Kean notched the final two points to take the set.
Thornton picked up five kills as the Cougars posted a .379 hitting percentage in the 25-17 set two victory. Kean used an 8-1 run early in the set to extend their lead to 13-6, Camden made things interesting with a 9-3 run of their own to cut the Cougars lead to 16-15. Kean closed the door with a 9-2 run that included two kills from Thornton.
The final set mirrored the second set as Kean hit above .350, but needed a big run late to finish it off. Smith posted four kills as the Cougars used a 9-4 run to take the set and the match with a 25-20 victory.
Fawns, Hall and
Michelle Froehlich all collected six kills apiece. Froehlich added 11 digs, while
Amanda DeLio tallied 12.
Sian Seeger totaled five kills and posted a .714 hitting percentage.
Britni Jaskot totaled 15 assists, while
Kylie Brua totaled 19 assists and seven digs.
