Galloway, N.J. (4/9/21) – The Kean University baseball team edged Stockton University by the final of 7-6 on Friday afternoon.
With the win the Cougars (7-6) even their NJAC mark at 2-2.
Kean pounded out 15 hits and took advantage of six Osprey miscues.
The teams traded runs in the first inning before the Cougars took the lead for good with a single run in the second. Kean added single runs in the fourth and fifth and pushed across two more in the seventh.
Leading 7-3 going into the bottom of the ninth the Ospreys (3-5, 1-3 NJAC) rallied and had the tying and go ahead runs in scoring position, but reliever Daniel Chiusano entered the game and induced a groundout to end the threat.
Chiusano earned the save while Collin Kiernan picked up his first win of the year. Kiernan (1-2) tossed eight and a third innings allowing five earned runs and six hits. He fanned seven and walked two.
Offensively Frank LoGiudice was 3-for-5 while Christian Pellone was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI.
Kean returns to action on Saturday when they travel to William Paterson University. Doubleheader action starts at 11:30 a.m.
