Union, N.J. (4/9/21) - The Kean University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the 2021 induction class of the Eta Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma.
Kean is adding 44 members with its 14th class of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. Student-athletes must have reached junior academic standing (56 credits) with a 3.4 grade point average. This year's class is the largest induction class in Kean's history.
Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society was founded at DePauw University on May 17, 1996, as an honorary college athletic society for recognition of high academic achievers and sport letter winners at the college level. Its purposes are:
-Â Â Â Â Â Â To encourage and reward high academic scholarship of college athletes at four-year accredited colleges and universities.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â To recognize outstanding academic achievement by intercollegiate varsity letter winners.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â To encourage good citizenship, moral character and friendship among the high academic achievers in college athletics.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â To recognize and honor the individual athlete, his/her team, sport, athletic department, and college or university.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â To mentor and to provide leadership to other athletes.
