UNION, N.J. (9/15/21) – Two early first-half goals lifted the Kean University Men's Soccer team to a 3-0 shutout victory over Lehman College on Wednesday evening.
Raonne Dias notched the game-winner for the Cougars who improve to 3-1-1 overall.
Ebenzer Otoo and
Mahamadou Traore tallied two shots apiece for the Lightning who fall to 0-1-1 overall.
The Cougars scored in the opening minute as Dias notched a goal in an open net off a quick pass from
Felix Pereyra. Pereyra assist came after collecting a loose ball during a botched save from the Lehman netminder.
Kean added a second goal less than four minutes later when
Shaq Bryan took the ball from a defender and beat the keeper one-on-one.
The Cougars finished their evening with a late score from
Tabi Essa Jr. in the 89
th minute. Essa Jr. took a pass from
Erick Chicas made a quick move to beat the last defender and scored one-on-one with the keeper.
Kean edged Lehman on shots (16-6), shots on goal (7-2), and corner kicks (4-2). 36 fouls were called with eight cards being issued.
Dominic Ridge and
Amr Mahmoud combined for two saves in 90 minutes of work.
