A Goal in Each Half Lifts Men’s Soccer Past Rutgers-Camden

UNION, N.J. (9/25/21) – A goal in each half lifted the Kean University men's soccer team to a 2-1 New Jersey Athletic Conference victory over Rutgers-Camden on Saturday afternoon.

Raonne Dias and Nikolaos Theoudoulidis each tallied a goal for the Cougars who improve to 6-1-1 overall and 2-0 in the NJAC. Skyler Diggs notched a goal for the Scarlet Raptors who fall to 4-3-2 overall and 0-2 in the NJAC.

Kean scored its first half goal in the 22nd minute when Dias scored on a header that was served in from Danny Guillen during a corner situation.  The Cougars maintained the 1-0 lead into the locker room as Kean held a 10-1 shot advantage over the first 45 minutes.

In a very chippy second half, the Cougars increased their lead to 2-0 in the 77th minute when Theoudoulidis converted on a penalty kick. Kean earned the PK after Tabi Essa Jr. was fouled inside the box.

Camden notched a late goal in the 88th minute, but the Scarlet Raptors couldn't find the equalizer despite being awarded two corner kicks in the final minute.

Kean led on shots (18-9) and shots on goal (8-5), while Camden held the advantage in corners (6-4).

Head Coach Peter-John Falloon and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday Sept. 29th in Montclair, N.J. against the Red Hawks of Montclair State University at 7:00 p.m
