UNION, N.J. (9/25/21) – Jordan Thompson tallied seven points on three goals and one assist as the #4 Kean University field hockey team stretched their winning streak to 14 games and remained unbeaten with a 6-3 victory over Gettysburg College on Saturday afternoon.
Lia DiPiazza totaled five points on three assists and one goal for the #4 Cougars who improve to 9-0 overall.
Alex Wenz scored twice for the Bullets who fall to 5-2 overall.
Kean exploded for three goals in the first 20 minutes with Thompson scoring twice and
Jorja Hibschman tallying the other goal as the Cougars maintained what looked like a comfortable 3-0 lead in the second quarter.
Gettysburg shot back with three unanswered goals in a five minute span to even the contest at 3-3 entering halftime. The Bullets tallied all their goals during corner situations.
The Cougars answered the bell in the second half scoring three times in the third quarter alone to regain control at 6-3 entering the fourth. DiPiazza and Thompson both scored and assisted on a goal during the third quarter run.
Megan Keeney collected a goal and an assist, while
Morgan Stump was credited with an assist.
Jenna Flemings and
Belly Reynoso combined for three saves in 60 minutes of work. Reynoso finished out the contest and earned her first decision in goal.
Kean led on shots (18-8), shots on goal (11-6) and corners (16-5).
