UNION, N.J. (9/5/21) – Two first-half goals propelled the Kean University men's soccer team to a 2-0 shutout victory over SUNY Old Westbury at the Tony Ochrimenko Classic on Sunday.
Raonne Dias and
Felix Pererya each tallied a goal for the Cougars who improve to 2-0 overall. E
rick Ortega recorded two shots for the Panthers who fall to 0-3 overall.
The Cougars struck earlier than yesterday's first goal as
Mario Ramirez Jr. fed the ball to the middle of the box and Dias knocked it home for his third goal of the season. Kean led 1-0 in the 14
th minute.
The Cougars added on to their scoring in the 25
th minute as Pereyra tapped in a loose ball from close range for the 2-0 lead.
That would be the final scoring for the afternoon, despite Kean recording 30 shots and 15 corners.
Dias tallied five shots, while
Shaq Bryan recorded four.
Dominic Ridge improves to 2-0 in goal after making five saves in 90 minutes of work.
