KINGS POINT, N.Y. (1/27/22) – The Kean University women's swimming team split a tri-meet with the United States Merchant Marine Academy and the College of Staten Island on Thursday evening. Kean defeated Staten Island 113-77 and fell to USMMA 126-66.
"With three weeks to go until championships, I am very happy with where we are as a team", said Head Coach
Chris Swenson.
Brianna Shaw won the only event for the Cougars with a first place finish in the 200 Fly (2:17.65). Shaw also placed second in the 200 Free (2:08.80) and the 500 Free (5:53.04).
Amanda Davis recorded two second place finishes in the 200 IM (2:24.65) and the 200 Back (2:22.90).
Teagan Powell and
Katie Pileggi each tallied a second place finish as well. Pileggi placed second in the 50 Free (27.36) and Powell took second in the 200 Breast (2:38.83).
Pileggi, Powell, Davis and
Krisztina Balogh posted a second place time in the 200 Medley Relay (2:00.24). Balogh also teamed up with
Isabel DeSanno,
Kat Riggins and
Sylvia Rozalski for a second place time in the 200 Free Relay (1:57.94)
"The girls brought a lot of energy tonight and we're setting up for a fast last few weeks".
Coach Swenson and the Cougars will return to the pool on Saturday, Feb. 5
th, hosting the Lions of TCNJ at 1:00 p.m.
