UNION, N.J. (10/13/22) – Ashley Smith recorded 11 kills, four block assists and three digs as the Kean University women's volleyball team earned a New Jersey Athletic Conference victory with a 3-0 straight sets swept over Rutgers-Camden on Thursday evening.
Anne Beckemeyer totaled eight kills and six block assists for the Cougars who improve to 11-8 overall and 5-1 in the NJAC. Isabella Choice totaled six kills, two aces, and three blocks for the Scarlet Raptors who fall to 9-10 overall and 4-3 in the NJAC.
Kean dominated almost all evening as the Cougars posted a .306 hitting percentage for the match. Camden was held to a negative hitting percentage for the entire match at -.070. In fact, Kean hit north of .290 across all three sets, while Camden never posted a positive hitting percentage in any set.
The Cougars dominated the first two sets with 25-16 and 25-11 scores. Smith and Beckemeyer combined for 12 kills and six errors.
The Scarlet Raptors made things interesting in set three. Camden traded points and eventually held a 15-14 advantage. Kean closed the match on a 10-2 run, including
Morgan Hall serving the final five points.
Taylor Micheaux and Hall both recorded seven kills apiece, while
Aubre Adams totaled three.
Kylie Brua finished with 33 assists, 13 digs and two block assists. On defense,
Sian Seeger led the way with 14 digs.
