Union, N.J. (11/12/22) – The Kean University women's basketball team earned their first victory of the 2022-23 season by topping Cabrini University, 65-52 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars (1-1) had a one point deficit after the first 10 minutes, but outscored the Cavaliers, 17-7 in the second quarter, including a 14-0 run in the final four and a half minutes.
After trading baskets early in the third quarter, Kean then pushed their lead out to double-digits and kept that advantage for the remainder of the contest.
Kean held their largest lead of the afternoon (63-41) with 2:54 remaining in the fourth quarter.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Shannon McCoy had a game-high 19 points and added eight rebounds as one of three players in double-digits for Kean. Brittany Graff (14 points, 5 assists) and Kayla Anderson (11 points, 7 rebounds) rounded out the top scorers for the Cougars.
Emma Brown led the Cavaliers (0-1) with 12 points and eight rebounds.
