UNION, N.J. (12/17/22) – Letrell West posted a career-high 30 points as the Kean University men's basketball team extended its unbeaten streak to 12 games with a 100-74 non-conference victory over St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday.

Griffin Barker tallied a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Cougars who remain unbeaten at 12-0 overall. Gary Grant totaled 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Seahawks who fall to 4-4 overall.

West, Barker and Jailen Jamison combined for 43 first half points as Kean shot 59.4% from the floor and 53.8% from downtown for a 58-38 halftime advantage. The Cougars and Seahawks traded buckets over the first seven and half minutes as SMC led 20-16 with 13:22 remaining. Kean broke open the game with a key 19-5 run to push their lead to double-digits at 35-22 with 8:17 remaining. West notched eight points during the run that put the Cougars in front for good.

St. Mary's cut the lead down to single digits briefly, before Vaughn Laki Anderson sparked the Cougars off the bench with nine points on three straight triples and pushed their lead back to 49-33.

The second half was more of the same as Kean maintained their double-digit advantage for the remainder of the contest. West and Corey Thelisme notched 10 points apiece as the Cougars stretched their lead to 30 and hit the century mark for the first time this season.

Jamison finished with 13 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals, while Thelisme and Anderson both tallied 11 points apiece.

Head Coach David Turco and the Cougars will return to action on Friday, Dec. 23rd in Princeton, N.J., against the Tigers of Princeton University for an Exhibition game at 2:00 p.m.
