Jamison Notches Season-High as Men’s Basketball Sweeps Season Series with Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. (2/12/22) – Jailen Jamison notched a season-high 27 points as the Kean University men's basketball team swept the season series with Rutgers-Camden in a 78-75 victory on Saturday.

Letrell West added 23 points and six rebounds for the Cougars who improve to 14-8 overall and 9-8 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Jaymes Savage totaled 11 points, nine assists and five rebounds for the Scarlet Raptors who fall to 1-19 overall and 1-16 in the NJAC.

Jamison tallied 11 points in a back and forth first half. After Kean led by a bucket with just under five minutes to play, Camden scored six straight to hold a 30-24 advantage with 2:39 remaining. West scored the final two baskets of the opening stanza as the Cougars trailed by two points at 30-28 entering halftime.

In the second half, the Cougars stayed within single digits for the first 10 minutes. The Scarlet Raptors attempted to pull away with a 10-1 run that gave them their largest lead of the game at 63-52 with 7:28 to play. Kean answered with a 17-6 run to regain the lead at 69-68 with 2:50 remaining. Jamison and West combined for 15 points during the run.

West was the catalyst down the stretch, scoring eight points in the final 2:50, including a layup with 54 seconds remaining and two free throws with 11 seconds to go.

JD Daniels added 16 points and six rebounds.

Head Coach David Turco and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 16th, hosting the Pioneers of William Paterson for Senior Night beginning at 8:00 p.m.
