PISCATAWAY, N.J. (2/19/22) – The Kean University women's swimming team broke six school records and currently sits in 6
th place after the third day of the Metropolitan Championships at Rutgers University.
"I could not be prouder of how much effort and energy our team has put into the meet up to this point", said Head Coach
Chris Swenson.
Teagan Powell tallied three individual records, while
Brianna Shaw recorded two. Powell set a record in the 100 Breast (1:07:06) during the morning session, before returning to set a new record in the evening's "A" final (1:06.53) with a third place finish. She also recorded a new school record in the 50 Breast during the 100 Breast finals (31.07).
Shaw repeated Powell with a new time in the 400 IM during the morning session (4:39.51), before returning to set a new record in the evening's "A" final (4:37.37) with a fourth place finish.
Powell and Shaw teamed up with
Amanda Davis and
Katie Pileggi for a new school record in the 400 Medley Relay (4:06.09) and a sixth place finish.
Krisztina Balogh placed first in the "B" Finals of the 100 Breast.
"They're having a special weekend and it's been exciting to watch them race!".
The Cougars have totaled 279 points through 28 events.
Coach Swenson and the Cougars will return to the pool for the final day of the Metropolitan Championships.
