NEWARK, N.J. (2/22/22) – Jailen Jamison became the 34
th player in program history to score 1000 career points as the sixth seed Kean University men's basketball team fell to the third seed Rutgers-Newark, 89-70 in the NJAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Tuesday evening.
Dante Ralph tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Scarlet Raiders who improve to 17-8 overall and advance to the NJAC semifinals on Thursday.
Letrell West finished with 21 points and five rebounds for the Cougars who finish their season at 14-10 overall.
Jamison reached the milestone with a made free-throw with 4:09 remaining. The senior came into tonight's contest sitting at 987 and needing 13 points to reach the milestone.
Newark opened with a 26-6 run and didn't look back as they maintained a 43-26 halftime lead. The Scarlet Raiders maintained their halftime advantage and eventually extended their lead to 30 points late in the second half.
Patrick Strzala totaled 13 points and three rebounds, while
Nate Lyles finished with six points and two rebounds in his final collegiate game.
