RALEIGH, N.C. (2/26/22) – Jenn Majorczak went 7-for-10 with eight RBI's, three runs scored, one double and one homerun over three games as the Kean University softball team won two games at the Triangle Grand Slam Classic hosted by William Peace University on Saturday.
Kean 13, Oberlin 8
Eliza Filus went 3-for-5 with three RBI's, a triple, a double and a run scored, while Majorczak,
Karly Messina and
Sarah Zengel each drove in two runs apiece as the Cougars (1-0) notched double digit runs in their first outing of 2022.
After being tied at 6-6, Kean exploded for seven runs on four hits in the fifth.
Annabella Marino improved to 1-0 overall after a relief effort in the circle.
Kean 8, N.C. Wesleyan 2
The Cougars hit three homeruns and Majorczak went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI's in the victory over the Battling Bishops. Majorczak opened with a three run bomb before
Gabriella Fredette and Messina answered with solo shots in the fifth.
NCWC went yard twice in the loss with two solo homers in the fourth and sixth innings.
Fredette, Messina and
Courtney Sherwood all recorded two hits apiece, while Marino earned her second victory in the circle with three strikeouts in a complete game.
Methodist 6, Kean 5
Kean scattered four hits in a one run loss to Methodist. Messina, Majorczk, Filus and Fredette all recorded a hit as the Cougars fell to 2-1 overall. After trading the lead, the Cougars took a 5-4 lead in the fourth on back-to-back RBI's from Filus and Fredette.
A costly error in the sixth would allow the tying and winning runs to cross the dish.
