QUINCY, Mass. (2/5/22) – Duncan Beilke and
Rajheem Meulens combined for 56 kills over two matches as the Kean University men's volleyball team split a tri-match with Emerson College and Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday.
Kean 3, Emerson 1
Beilke totaled 18 kills and five digs as the Cougars (4-0) swept the Lions (1-4) in the final three sets to remain unbeaten. After dropping the opening set of the afternoon, Kean posted above a .220 hitting percentage over the final three sets. Beilke recorded 15 of his 18 kills over those three sets, including notching nine kills on 14 swings with just one error in the third and fourth sets.
Quincy Rooi added 14 kills and a .435 hitting percentage in the victory as well.
Zach Noll and
Luke Frankenfield combined for 43 assists and
Cris Naranjo collected 14 digs.
ENC 3, Kean 2
Beilke, Meulens and Rooi all tallied double-digit kills as the Cougars (4-1) fell to the Lions (4-6) in a five set thriller. After trading sets, the Cougars notched their best hitting percentage of the match with a .250 percentage in the deciding set. In that set, Kean held a 12-8 lead late, but ENC closed with a 6-1 run to take the match.
Meulens totaled 13 kills, Beilke tallied 11 and Rooi recorded 10. Noll finished with 38 assists, 10 digs, and three aces, while Naranjo collected 11 digs.
