UNION, N.J. (2/5/22) – Teagan Powell won two events as the Kean University women's swimming team dropped their New Jersey Athletic Conference finale to the College of New Jersey, 146-80 on Senior Day.
"It's hard to believe the regular season wrapped up today", said Head Coach
Chris Swenson.
The Lions finish the regular season at 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the NJAC, while the Cougars finish their regular season at 6-6 overall and 2-3 in the NJAC.
Powell captured the 100 Breast (1:10.17) and the 50 Breast (32.15) events, while
Brianna Shaw placed first in the 200 IM (2:19.10). The Cougars also posted four second-place finishes as well. Shaw took second in the 100 Fly,
Katie Pileggi finished second in the 50 Back and
Krisztina Balogh finished behind Powell in the 50 Breast (33.42).
Powell, Pileggi, Balogh, and Shaw all teamed up for a second-place finish in the 200 Free Relay (1:50.73).
"We've grown so much as a program since September and we're ready to finish on a high note at METS in a couple of weeks".
Before the meet, Pileggi was honored by Coach Swenson and his staff.
Coach Swenson and the Cougars will return to the pool at the Metropolitan Championships hosted at Rutgers University from Feb. 17
th to Feb. 20
th.
