ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. (3/12/22) – Duncan Beilke and
Rajheem Meulens combined for 26 kills as the Kean University men's volleyball team needed five sets to earn a Continental Volleyball Conference victory over Elizabethtown College, 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Beilke totaled 14 kills and five digs for the Cougars who improve to 12-7 overall and 2-2 in the CVC. Blake Hildebrand tallied 13 kills, seven digs and three aces for the Blue Jays who fall to 10-8 overall and 0-3 in the CVC.
After trading sets, Kean was locked into a back and forth affair in the deciding set. E-Town scored three straight points to hold a 6-5 advantage early. The Cougars responded with a 4-0 run, including Beilke serving for three points to take a 9-6 lead. The Blue Jays answered with a 3-1 run to trail 10-9.
Kean closed the match on a 5-2 run, including kills from Beilke and Meulens.
Meulens totaled 12 kills and two digs, while
Quincy Rooi finished with eight kills, seven digs, two aces and two solo blocks.
Maxwell Thompson recorded five kills, six block assists and three digs, while
Zach Noll totaled 29 assists and six digs.
