UNION, N.J. (3/22/22) – Duncan Beilke and
Quincy Rooi each tallied 10 kills apiece as the Kean University men's volleyball team swept Saint Elizabeth University, 3-0 in straight sets on Tuesday evening.
Rooi totaled 10 kills and six digs for the Cougars who improve to 13-9 overall.
Kodi Peters finished with six kills and two digs for the Eagles who fall to 9-3 overall.
Rooi and Beilke combined for 10 kills on 15 swings as the Cougars dominated set one, 25-12. Kean posted a .541 hitting percentage with no errors in a landslide victory.
Rooi,
Ryan DiCandilo and
Luke Frankenfield combined for seven kills as the Cougars needed a late rally to take set two, 25-17. Kean trailed 11-8 but closed the set on a 17-6 run.
Beilke, Rooi and
Rajheem Meulens combined for 10 kills as the Cougars posted a .344 hitting percentage in the 25-16 set three victory. Kean opened on a 10-4 run and never looked back. SEU posted a positive hitting percentage of .074 after recording negative percentages in the first and second sets.
Frankenfield totaled 10 assists, four kills, and four digs, while Meulens finished with four kills and four assists.
Zach Noll collected 17 assists and two aces, while two-sport athlete
Mario Gunn notched his first career kill as a member of the volleyball team.
The Cougars will return to action tomorrow, Wednesday, Mar. 23
