UNION, N.J. (3/30/22) – Brady Moore and
Anthony Porter combined for seven goals as the Kean University men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-12 contest to the University of Scranton on Wednesday evening.
Mike Bouhall tallied six points on three goals and three assists for the Royals who improve to 4-4 overall. Moore notched four points on four goals for the Cougars who fall to 4-3 overall.
Moore and Porter both scored twice during a back-and-forth first half. Scranton scored three times in the final four minutes before a Porter goal with 10 seconds remaining pulled Kean to a one-goal deficit at halftime.
In the second half, the Cougars couldn't close the gap as the Royals answered every Kean goal. After cutting the lead to one on a
Dante Magliano goal with 5:08 left in the third, Scranton notched three in a row to extend their lead to 13-9 with just over six minutes to play.
Magliano assisted on two of the Cougars final three goals, as Kean trimmed the lead down to 13-12 with 2:02 to play. Kean failed to get the equalizer in the final two minutes as Scranton hung on for the victory.
Porter totaled four points on three goals and one assist, while Magliano recorded three points on two assists and one goal.
Hunter Jenkinson tallied a goal and an assist, while
Tommy Pellegrino,
Nick Thorne,
Kyle Ryder, and
Connor Batjer each recorded a point for the Cougars.
At faceoff,
Nick Moffa went 22-for-28 with seven groundballs.
Joey McNulty tallied seven groundballs, while Porter finished with five groundballs and one caused turnover.
Matt Palmieri totaled three groundballs and one caused turnover, while both Thorne and
Adam Claxton collected three groundballs apiece.
In goal,
Thomas Francy made 10 saves in 60 minutes of work.
