#6 TCNJ Tops Women's Lacrosse, 13-9

Union, N.J. (4/16/22) – The Kean University women's lacrosse team battled back from an early deficit to pull within one goal three times but it wasn't enough as #6 The College of New Jersey pulled away with a 13-9 victory in NJAC action.

The Cougars (7-6, 2-1 NJAC) were led by Amanda Ehrhart who had one goal and four assists on the day.  Defensively Emily Bretschneider caused five turnovers and added four groundballs.

TCNJ (10-1, 3-0 NJAC) quickly pushed out to a 6-0 after one quarter of play.  The Cougars regrouped and turned the tables by scoring five goals of their own in the second quarter while holding the Lions scoreless to pull within one (6-5) at the intermission.  Dana Meehan started and ended the run as one of four goals scorers in the span.

The Lions quickly scored two goals in the third quarter to push out to an 8-5 lead but that didn't stop Kean who pulled within one again (8-7).  Katie Pileggi and Kylie Giordano both found the back of the net for Kean.  Jillian Westerby made it 9-7 before the teams' traded goals in the final minute of the period.

TCNJ scored three fourth quarter goals to put the game out of reach.
