Women’s Lacrosse Earns Playoff Spot with Victory over Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J. (4/30/22) – Dana Meehan and Amanda Ehrhart both reached 100 career points as the Kean University women's lacrosse team secured a New Jersey Athletic Conference Playoff spot with a 10-9 victory over Stockton University on Saturday afternoon.

Amanda Brzoska tallied five points on a career-high five goals as the Cougars improve to 8-8 overall and 3-3 in the NJAC. Michelle Pascrell totaled six points on five goals and one assist for the Ospreys who fall to 9-7 overall and 3-3 in the NJAC.

Brzoska scored four times in a very tight first half, which saw Kean holding a 6-5 lead into halftime. Brzoska notched three in the second quarter, including a goal with 6:13 remaining. Meehan scored and assisted on a goal in the second quarter, which included her 100th point.

In the third quarter, Stockton scored back-to-back goals to take an 8-7 lead into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, Meehan scored twice as the Cougars held a 10-8 advantage with 6:15 remaining.

Stockton threaten late with a goal inside two minutes and had possession with under 30 seconds. Emily Bretschneider make a key caused turnover and ran the ball out to seal the win.

Meehan finished with four points on three goals and one assist, while Ehrhart totaled three points on three assists. Sarah Wagner, Katie Pileggi and Kylie Giordano all notched two points apiece.

Pileggi and Grace Michielli combined for 12 draw controls. On the turf, Nicole Peters tallied five groundballs, while Bretschneider and Rosalee Lachner both collected three groundballs apiece. On defense, Bretschneider recorded four caused turnovers, while Gwen Sanagustin recorded two.

In goal, Peters made 13 saves in 60 minutes of work.

Head Coach B.J. Johnson and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, May 4th in Ewing, N.J. against the Lions of the College of New Jersey at 4:00 p.m.
