UNION, N.J. (9/19/22) – Sekou Soumahoro scored a goal in each half as the Kean University men's soccer team shutout John Jay College, 4-0 on Monday evening.
Felix Pereyra and
Quadri Okunola also scored for the Cougars who improve to 4-2-1 overall. Tyler Solis made seven saves for the Bloodhounds who remain winless at 0-7 overall.
Kean opened the scoring with a Soumahoro goal off a
Santi Alzate assisted through ball in the 14
th minute. Pereyra put the Cougars up 2-0 in the 31
st minute, when the senior scored on a loose ball in the box. Kean held John Jay to just one shot and lead 2-0 after 45 minutes of play.
In the second half, Soumahoro played a through ball for Okunola who beat the keeper one-on-one. Soumahoro notched his second goal of the evening in the 77
th minute, when
Erick Chicas crossed in the ball for the rookie who lightly tapped it past the keeper.
Kean dominated on shots (26-3) and shots on goal (11-0).
Lauron Dinho Marcellin posted four shots, while Soumahoro and
Fanor Arango each tallied three.
