UNION, N.J. (9/28/22) – Two second half goals were not enough as the Kean University men's soccer team suffered a 5-2 setback to the College of New Jersey in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening.
Luke Pascarella notched a hat-trick for the Lions who improve to 5-4-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the NJAC.
Santi Alzate and
Shaq Bryan both tallied a goal for the Cougars who fall to 4-4-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the NJAC.
TCNJ scored four goals in 60 minutes, including three in the first half, and held a comfortable 4-0 lead. Alzate finally put Kean on the scoreboard in the 61
st minute with a shot just inside the box which beat the keeper on the near post.
The Lions answered 10 seconds later to push their lead back to 5-1. Bryan capped off the scoring for the evening with a header goal that came off a
Kelvin Gyamfi assisted ball in the 70
th minute.
Despite the loss, Kean edged on shots (16-9) and corner kicks (8-2), while TCNJ led in shots on goal (7-6).
Alzate recorded four shots, while
Fanor Arango and
Ilyas Jaber both tallied two shots apiece.
Dominic Ridge and
Dillon Konzelmann combined for two saves in 90 minutes of work.
