Union, N.J. (9/3/22) – The Kean University women's volleyball team split tri-match action on Saturday topping Johnson & Wales, 3-2 and falling to SUNY New Paltz, 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
In a match that took well over two hours, the Cougars prevailed with a five set thriller, needing extra in the second and fourth sets (27-25, 31-29).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Kayla Thornton had 15.5 points with 12 kills and five total blocks. She added five digs. Ashley Smith led the team with 16 points. She had a double-double 15 kills and 12 digs. Kylie Brua collected 42 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
It was the Hawks (2-0) who took advantage in extra time with a 17-15 set five win. Why not end the day with another five set thriller, this time with the Cougars (1-1) coming up just short of the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Smith again provided a double-double with 16 kills and 18 digs while Thornton recorded 13 kills and a .545 hitting percentage.
