UNION, N.J. (1/14/23) – Four starters scored in double figures as the Kean University women's basketball team earned a 58-41 New Jersey Athletic Conference victory over Montclair State University on Saturday afternoon.
Macy Seaman tallied 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Cougars who improve to 8-8 overall and 6-3 in the NJAC. Nickie Carter notched 11 points for the Red Hawks who fall to 8-8
overall and 5-4 in the NJAC.
After a back and forth first quarter, Kean used a 14-2 run during the second to push their advantage to 32-24 with 30 seconds remaining before halftime.
Brittany Graff and Seaman combined for 10 points during the run as Montclair was held to 14.2 % shooting from the floor.
In the third, the Cougars pushed their lead to double digits with an 18-6 quarter that propelled Kean to a 50-33 lead entering the fourth.
Kayla Anderson and
Shannon McCoy combined for 10 points in the third, which again saw MSU held to 14.2% shooting from the floor.
The fourth quarter saw more of the same as Kean extended their lead to at least 20 points before the final buzzer.
Graff finished with 12 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Anderson tallied 10 points, nine rebounds and three steals. McCoy finished 10 points, six rebounds and five assists, while
Sarah Olivero collected seven points.
