Newark, N.J. (1/21/23) – The Kean University women's basketball team won their fourth straight New Jersey Athletic Conference game by defeating host Rutgers-Newark, 84-52 on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After trading points in the early going, the Cougars (10-8, 8-3 NJAC) used a 17-2 run to push out to a comfortable double digit advantage.
Kean kept the momentum going and pushed their lead out to 20+ in the second quarter and headed into intermission with a 38-18 lead.
The Cougars took their biggest lead of the day early in the fourth quarter as Stephanie LaGreca's layup put Kean up 69-32.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Shannon McCoy posted a game-high 27 points along with five rebounds and five assists while teammate Brittany Graff posted a 20-point effort with six rebounds and seven assists. Shahd Badeer added a double-double 12 points and 10 rebounds off the bench in the win.
Ebony Odom Barnes led Rutgers-Newark (3-15, 1-10 NJAC) with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Kean returns home to face Ramapo College, who is tied with the Cougars on top of the NJAC, for a Wednesday matchup.
