MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (11/8/23) – Griffin Barker finished with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds as the Kean University men's basketball team (0-1) dropped their 2023-24 season opener to PSU-Harrisburg (1-0), 59-51 on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED!

• The Cougars opened the contest on a 19-5 run, behind nine points from Barker and seven from Brandon Upshaw.
• Harrisburg closed the half on a 21-6 run to hold a slim 26-25 advantage at halftime.
• The Nittany Lions maintained their lead throughout the second half despite the Cougars keeping the advantage to single digits.
• Kean brought the lead down to four at 55-51 on a Phil Brown Jr. layup with 90 seconds remaining, before going cold to end the contest.

INSIDE THE BOX

• Upshaw finished with 10 points and four rebounds.
• D.J. Alicea totaled nine points, three rebounds and two steals.
• Brown Jr. collected seven points and four rebounds.
• The Cougars shot 30.6% from the floor, 26.1% from downtown and 62.5% from the line.
