UNION, N.J. (12/19/23) – Three starters scored in double figures as the Kean University men's basketball team (6-6) dropped a non-conference contest to the #12 Christopher Newport University Captains (9-3), 67-55 on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED!

• CNU opened on an 18-5 run as the Cougars struggled shooting the ball in the first half (24.1%).
• The Captains maintained their double-digit lead into halftime as Collin Hines hit a triple just before time expired.
• In the second half, Kean opened on an 18-9 run to cut the Captains lead to 45-40 with 13 minutes to play.
• D.J. Alicea notched all of his 10 second half points during a run which held CNU to just three made field goals.
• Kean continued to hang around and their defense kept the Captains inside single digits.
• The Cougars knocked in four straight free throws to bring the lead back down to five at 55-50 with just under six minutes to play.
• CNU closed on a 12-6 run that included four points from Hines.
