Wayne, N.J. (4/17/23) – The Kean University women's tennis team picked up a 9-0 win at host William Paterson University on Monday evening in NJAC action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars (6-5, 1-4 NJAC) earned 8-2, 8-2, 8-1 decisions in doubles action, but needed tiebreakers in three single sets to end the night with the shutout.
The toughest battle came at first singles as both sets went to tiebreaker action. Samantha Paine Luu came out on top winning 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-3).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Paine Luu and Maria Torres combined for the win at first doubles. Torres then was victorious at third singles.
Bianca Ortega and Selina Maisonett combined for the win at second doubles and earned wins at second and fourth singles.
Madison Thornhill-Burke and Molly Gomez combined for the win at third doubles and had wins at fifth and sixth singles.
