Union, N.J. (4/7/23) – The Kean University baseball team pounded out 13 runs on their way to topping Stockton University, 13-4, on Friday afternoon.
With the win, Kean sweeps the season series.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After scoring a single run in the first off an error, the Cougars (14-11, 3-1 NJAC) to a 5-0 advantage in the second with RBI sacrifices from Kyle Adorno and Brett Hilsheimer and a two RBI double from Christian Pellone.
Josh Jackson added to the lead with a monster solo shot in the bottom of the third.
The Ospreys (13-10, 1-3 NJAC) scratched across a single run in the fourth with an RBI single from Cooper Fiore.
Jackson did it again in the fifth, this time a two run blast to put Kean ahead, 8-1.
The Cougars then blew the game open with five runs in the seventh. Hilsheimer registered a two RBI double and Phil Marcantonio walked with the bases loaded in the frame.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Nolan Rowan (4-1) earned the win after tossing seven innings. He allowed two runs, two walks and six hits. He struck out six.
Offensively Hilsheimer was 1-for-3 with three RBI while Jackson was 2-for-2 with three RBI, two walks and four runs scored. Justin Teixeira was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI in the DH role.
