UNION, N.J. (5/9/23) – Andee Perseponko went 3-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored as the fifth seeded Kean University softball team stayed alive in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Softball Tournament with a 5-2 victory over the sixth seeded William Paterson University on Tuesday afternoon.
- Kean jumped on it early with two runs in the top of the first courtesy of a Karly Messina two RBI single that scored Sydney Hixenbaugh and Perseponko.
- The Cougars added two more runs in the second with RBI's from Brianna Sciulli and Perseponko for a 4-0 lead entering the bottom half of the inning.
- Paterson cut the lead in half with two runs in the third on an RBI single and a Cougar throwing error.
- Kean added an insurance run in the sixth when Perseponko notched her second RBI of the game on a single that scored Sciulli
- Messina finished 2-for-3 with two RBI's.
- Melody Caces, Eliza Filus, Hixenbaugh and Emily Zuppa all notched a hit.
- Heather Clevenger recorded two strikeouts and earned the victory.
- Annabella Marino notched the save.
