Men’s Basketball Snaps Losing Streak with Victory over William Paterson

UNION, N.J. (1/17/24) – Four players scored in double-figures as the Kean University men's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with an 89-76 victory over William Paterson University in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED!
  • After falling behind 7-0 to start, Kean responded with a 15-8 run to even the contest at 15-15, behind seven points from Brandon Upshaw.
  • The rest of the opening stanza saw both sides trade buckets as Kean never held larger than a seven-point advantage.
  • The Cougars closed on an 8-2 run to take a 44-37 lead into halftime
  • Upshaw poured in another seven points as Kean pushed their halftime lead to double-digits with a 12-5 run.
  • The Cougars never trailed for the remainder of the contest, despite the Pioneers cutting the lead down to five at one point.
  • Ethan Stith and D.J. Alicea combined for 16 points down the stretch as Kean extended their lead to the largest of the game at 17.
  • The Cougars went a perfect 14-for-14 in the second half.
