Ewing, N.J. (10/19/24) – The Kean University football team fell to host the College of New Jersey, 48-7 on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Lions scored midway through the first quarter after blocking a Cougar punt to set them up with good field position. Three passes later, Trevor Bopp connected for a 15-yard reception and a 7-0 lead.
Kean answered later in the quarter as Buddha Payne's interception set up the Cougars just outside the redzone. Rocco Pellegrini found John Kountouris for a seven-yard reception to knot the game up at seven-all.
That would be as close as Kean would get on the afternoon as TCNJ exploded for 31 second quarter points on their way to improving to 2-1 in the NJAC.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Defensively Tommie Lee Pierson recorded eight tackles, two for a loss while adding a sack and forced fumble.
