Jersey City, N.J. (10/29/24) – The Kean University women's volleyball team improved to 5-2 in NJAC play with a straight set win over host New Jersey City University on Tuesday evening.

Kean 3, NJCU 0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-21)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After an early see-saw battle, the Cougars used a 7-1 run to push out to a comfortable advantage. 

Leading 17-14 in the second set, Kean used a 6-1 surge to take an even bigger lead and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Gothic Knights rallied in what would be the final set as Kean led 14-7.  NJCU would score nine straight and take a 16-14 lead.  Later tied at 20-all the Cougars scored five of the next six points with an ace from Madeline Dohogne, a kill by Taylor Micheaux and a block from Micheaux and Bella Stem.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Dohogne finished with a game-high and career-high 14 kills while hitting .444 for the match.  She registered a double-double adding 12 digs.

Micheaux recorded 13 kills while Olivia Capra and Annabelle Valencia combined for 21 digs.

Aspen O'Brien tallied 31 assists and three aces.
