Union, N.J. (11/12/24) – The Kean University women's volleyball team ended the season with a 3-1 defeat to Rowan University in the quarterfinals of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament.
Rowan 3, Kean 1 (25-21, 21-25, 16-25, 15-25)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars (17-14) turned a one-point advantage (14-13) into a six-point lead in the first set thanks in part to three kills from Taylor Micheaux. The Profs rallied late with a small surge, but the Cougars were able to hang on for the early advantage.
It was Rowan's turn in the second set, turning a two-point lead (14-12) into a six-point advantage. The Cougars rallied late with six straight points to close within two (23-21) as Micheaux recorded two kills and Aspen O'Brien served up an ace. But a Kean error and a Prof ace evened the match up at one-all.
Rowan surged to open the third set, scoring the first six points on their way to an 11-2 lead. They cruised from there and took a 2-1 lead.
The Profs used two mini surges in what would be the final set to advance to the semifinal round on Thursday when they travel to face top-seeded William Paterson University.
